FOR the first time ever, the VOU dance group will perform a full-length production called Mataqali Drift at the Civic Centre in Suva later this month.

The group has been working tirelessly over the past few months on the production, which is set to take place on December 12-13.

One of the performers is VOU's more recent recruits Navitalai Fong, who had a burning passion for the performing arts since his high school days.

"I moved to complete my secondary education at International School Suva where I came to a closer appreciation for performance art after participating in the annual theatrical school productions," Fong said in a VOU statement.

"These experiences spawned a keen interest for performance in theatre, particularly physical theatre."

As part of the group's preparation for the production, they researched their personal roots and heritage through village visits.
