PEOPLE can breathe a sigh of relief as the hot weather experienced around the country will cool off with afternoon or evening showers.

In its weather bulletin yesterday, the Fiji Meteorological Centre forecasted that a weak trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers remained slow moving over Fiji.

"It is expected to continue affecting the group until Thursday," the centre said.

"People can expect afternoon or evening showers over western parts of the main islands. Elsewhere people can expect some showers, isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms with heavy falls, moderate north to northeast winds and moderate seas."

The weather office forecasted some showers were expected over most places with isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms tomorrow.

"Nadi, Lautoka and Ba should be fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. The weather office forecasts some showers, especially in the afternoon or evening for Labasa," the centre said.

Around the country, students on holiday ventured out to beaches, libraries and pools to beat the humidity when it did not rain.
