A 23-YEAR-OLD businessman of Vanuatu has been charged by police after about $31,000 in foreign currency was found on him at the Nadi International Airport on Sunday.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the Chinese national came to Fiji on a transit flight destined for Australia.

"He has been charged with one count of failing to declare currency and is expected to be produced in court," said Ms Naisoro.

Meanwhile, a Japanese national appeared at the Nadi Magistrates Court yesterday for failing to declare foreign currency worth about $15,000.
