A TEAM from the Mineral Resource Department is in the North to conduct geological survey works at the proposed sports complex site in Seaqaqa.
Department director Malakai Finau confirmed a geological survey team from Suva was in Labasa to carry out exploration for sources of fresh rocks which could be used in road construction work on Vanua Levu carried out by the China Railway First Group.
He said another team would arrive this week to monitor exploration works carried out on the island.
"Until then we cannot provide any updates on any of the exploration works in Vanua Levu," he said.
The government earlier announced a $2million allocation to continue the work on rural sporting complexes in Seaqaqa, Rakiraki, Vunidawa and Korovou.
Youth and Sports Minister Commander Viliame Naupoto earlier said the Seaqaqa complex would enable youths in the area to develop themselves by participating in sports.
