THE Lautoka Football Association is eyeing a bright start in 2013/2014 National Football League which kicks off next weekend.
The Blues are scheduled to play Navua in the opening round at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
The Sugar City side failed to impress in the 2013 National Football League competition after a poor start.
Lautoka finished fourth in the competition behind eventual winner Ba, second placed Nadi and third placed Suva.
Lautoka Football Association president Shalendra Prasad said they would start their preparations from Tuesday.
He said the aim was to get off to a winning start.
"The change in the Fiji FA season will certainly be a challenge for all teams," Prasad said.
"Soccer in the country sort of dies out after the Inter-District Competition and the National Club Championship. But now with the season starting in November the players, match officials and administrators will have to change their mind set."
"We are now aligned to the FIFA and Oceania Football Confederation domestic calendar.
"Our patron Babu Rattan Deo has requested for a change in the team management.
"This will be discussed at the sixth council meeting on November 5. The appointments will be done then."
Prasad said they would also be eyeing for volunteers to help in grassroots development.
In the 2013 National League, Lautoka defeated Navua 2-0 in the first round and drew 1-all in the second round.
In the feature match at Prince Charles Park next Sunday Nadi will play defending league champions Ba.
The official opening of the National Football League will be held at the ANZ Stadium in Suva on the same day starting at 1.30pm.
It will be followed by Rewa versus Nadroga fixture after which Suva will play Labasa.
