DIWALI celebrations in the Western Division are focusing on uniting people from all walks of life, different ethnicities and religions.
This was the key message from the organisers of Diwali Mela events in the Jetset town of Nadi and the Sugar City of Lautoka.
"Our committee welcomes all religions and people to join us at Koroivolu Park in Nadi," said Vineel Nand from the organising committee in Nadi.
A mega fireworks display will cap off celebrations tonight in Nadi.
Lautoka Diwali Mela organiser Alvin Raj said since the event kicked off on Thursday, the response from the public has been phenomenal.
"We have had huge crowds coming in and Friday night was a full house," he said.
"We put on a Ramayan drama that re-enacted the story of how good triumphed over evil and this was very well received by all the people that turned up.
"Diwali is a festival for everybody and a call for forgiveness for things that may have caused a divide in the past and this message has been very well received by the people of Lautoka."
Festivities in Lautoka will culminate with a fireworks display tonight at the Field 40 mandir.
