SUNSHINE Special School won the 2013 McDonald's Western Special Schools Sports and Fun Day at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.
The Sunshine Special School based at Evans St in Lautoka, finished first in the major schools category with a roll of over 100 students.
Lautoka Special School was second while Nadi Special School was third.
Sigatoka Special School won the minor schools category with a roll of less than 100 students.
Ba/Tavua Special School was second and Ra Special School was third.
The students participated in core sports including rugby 7s, soccer, netball and volleyball.
Cricket Fiji officials helped facilitate the cricket activities during the two-day event which started on Thursday.
The inaugural Western Special Schools Sports and Fun Day started in 1998. It was hosted by the Nadi Centre for Special Education. In 2004, the Western Council for Special Educators was established and McDonald's took up the sponsorship for the Sports and Fun Day.
