NOVEMBER, also known as non-communicable disease month, is here and the Health Ministry is stressing the importance of wellness and healthy living.
Minister for Health Dr Neil Sharma said in a statement that part of wellness included women checking their breasts regularly for any lump and checking things such as blood pressure and sugar levels.
"We are requesting women to clinically exam their breasts annually as proof of their wellness check," Dr Sharma said.
"During this, blood pressure, sugar level and pap smear will also be checked."
He said with Pinktober having just ended, the ministry was still focused on wellness in women, particularly with regards to breast cancer.
"Generally speaking, women over 50 years should consider screening mammogram and if lumps are noted, then diagnostic mammogram will be needed."
