THE Mana Choral Fest 2013 started yesterday, as about 200 students displayed their talents in a colourful show for a schools matinee.
Directed by the Head of Performing Arts at USP Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies, Igelese Ete, the show is a rebranding of the former Suva Secondary Schools Music Festival.
"We wanted to rebrand it, and we thought about the spirit of the Pacific," he said.
"It's a way of acknowledging the power of music and what it can do, with the talent we have here."
He said the theme "Dare to imagine: love, peace and unity" was a call for unity among all schools to work together and succeed in their endeavours.
He called on the public to support the show.
"Come and support the youth, the art, it's totally inspiring, you will be totally moved by the young people," said Ete.
Those who missed the first concert can view the second and final concert at 7pm tonight at the ICT Japan theatre at USP.
