SUGARCANE growers supplying the Lautoka mill have been assured that all harvestable cane will be processed despite the factory closing this weekend.
FSC executive chairman Abdul Khan said crushing would cease on Sunday at the country's biggest factory because of supply issues.
"Lautoka will terminate crushing on Sunday with the last of harvest on Saturday," he said.
"However, I would like to reassure all growers that we will welcome all harvestable cane from Lautoka at the Rarawai mill to ensure that we process as much harvestable cane as possible."
Mr Khan added that while cane from Lautoka would be processed at Ba, the FSC could not commit to subsidising the cost of transport for all growers.
"We will look at this on a case-by-case basis.
"If we feel that growers have expanded every effort to harvest and transport cane, then there is a possibility of assistance being given to subsidise transport costs."
