SERUA can expect $468,000 worth of assistance from the government for road upgrades.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama confirmed at the opening of the Serua Provincial Council meeting that 11 road upgrade projects were in the pipeline for the Serua province for 2014.
"These roads are the Nabuli Rd in Nanuku, Vuninokonoko Agriculture Land in Deuba, Nakoba Rd in Deuba (Batiwai), Rampur College Rd hump in Nakaulevu — Deuba, Deuba Rd covert, Nasavu Village Rd in Deuba, Namaqumaqua water catchment, Masi Farm Rd in Nuku, Matarualelevu Farm Rd in Wainiyabia, Wainiyabia Farm Rd and the Ulunayau Farm Rd in Serua," Commodore Bainimarama said.
He revealed this year, the government funded about six development projects in Serua.
"Total of the projects are worth $800,000, this is excluding the works done in schools."
These included the construction of the Lomary seawall in Lomary, Naboutini and Navulivatu seawalls, Dakunikoro Farm, Nuku Farm Rd and tarsealing of the road in Deuba.
He added they were in the process of implementing committees in the villages to help safeguard its natural resources.
"The roko tui will head this committee that will be under the natural environment committee that has the permanent secretaries as members."
