PLANS are being drawn up to extend the boundaries of Nadi Town, says special administrator Robin Ali.
Speaking to this newspaper yesterday, Mr Ali said the new town boundaries would be extended to include Malolo and Naisoso.
The existing boundary ends the Qeleloa Bridge and Votualevu junction.
He said one of the main reasons for the extension was the increasing population which had placed a huge demand on services from the council.
"There are a lot of processes involved with this project such as the boundary description, the land use system and zoning processes.
"There is going to be a public participation exercise as people will be consulted before anything happens and once that is finalised then we will proceed with the boundary extension."
Mr Ali said despite the surge in population and demands for basic services, he was optimistic the council had the capacity to accommodate future challenges.
"We have made provision for this expected growth and one particular issue to be addressed is the garbage collection system."
