THE Water Authority of Fiji has identified a permanent water source for residents on the South end of Taveuni.
However, authority CEO Opetaia Ravai said this was subject to current talks progressing between the authority and the landowner regarding the use of the water source.
Mr Ravai said they were also exploring all other options for the speedy re-establishment of normal water supply in the area.
"We are currently awaiting the consent of the landowners before we act further," he said.
"However, this has not stopped us from carting water to the settlement and villages in the area.
"People in the south end of Taveuni are getting water for their daily use and WAF is doing all it can to meet their needs."
Mr Ravai said the water source they had identified was situated in Salialevu on Taveuni South.
"Water in the area was cut off after the previous water source dried up."
Earlier on, residents in the area raised their grievances regarding the lack of water supply in the area.
According to villagers from Vuna, they have been resorting to seawater springs to cater for their water needs.
