TAURANGA rugby club will keep the Skaffworks Challenge Cup in its trophy cabinet for the rest of the season after six successful defence during the Ovalau Rugby Union club competition.
The side captained by Atunaisa Draunidalo wrested the cup away from Bukawaqa 12-10 and maintained a strong grip on the title throughout the season.
Following a successful campaign, Draunidalo said they were fired up for the semi-finals of their club competition this weekend.
"We have retained the Skaffworks Cup for the season and we are happy about that," he said.
"Now we need to shift our focus on winning our semi-final this weekend."
Tauranga had a default win against Corocoro last week.
"The boys are prepared for this Saturday's game. It is the semi-final and it is not going to be an easy fight.
"Our aim is to win both trophies for this season."
He said three former Ovalau provincial reps in fullback Sailasa Laqeti, winger Maciu Rokowaqa and inside centre Marika Niumata had been instrumental in Tauranga's first title defence.
