THE geographical layout and the complexity of the population are some of the challenges faced by about 10 officers working at the Tailevu Provincial Council office.
Roko tui Tailevu Semi Saukawa explained that a lot of people in Tailevu are part of the working force and they stayed in their own villages.
"People working in Suva and stay in Tailevu so we have to be very careful in analysing before we go in as to how decision and problem solving issues do come up," Mr Saukawa said.
"Because when they come and stay in the village, the village has its own by- laws which they adhere to.
"And people's mind-set is another challenge."
At the council meeting yesterday, held at the Ratu Cakobau House in Nausori, delegates passed the 2015 budget of $217,048.
Mr Saukawa said the main aim of this budget was to have capacity building for the provincial council staff members.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Central Colonel Laisenia Tuitubou opened the meeting and informed the provincial council that the government had spent about $84million in the past three years for the development of the province.
He said this was utilised by the 22 districts that make up the province.
