POLICE are investigating an alleged assault of a Labasa businessman by two man during a soccer tournament over the weekend.
Spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri yesterday said the incident occurred at Subrail Park on Sunday night.
"The victim claimed that he was assaulted by the three men who were playing.
"The men assaulted the victim following a heated argument with one of their team members," Insp Sokomuri said.
"Right now, we are investigating the issue and those involved will be taken to task."
On the same occasion, Insp Sokomuri said a 34-year-old man lodged a report against the businessman for swearing at him during the tournament.
"Police in Labasa are investigating a case of annoying a person and assault from the tournament.
"We are appealing to members of the public to always be careful and not to take the law into their own hands."
