ABOUT 6800 Form Seven students around the country knuckled down to sit their Fiji Seventh Form Examination (FSFE) that started yesterday.
And this year, the Ministry of Education recorded an increase in the number of centres where the FSFE is being held — up by four to 158 from the 154 recorded last year.
A statement from the ministry yesterday said this was part of initiatives to make primary and secondary education accessible to all students, irrespective of their geographical isolation.
"For 2013, four secondary schools such as Ratu Luke Secondary School in Bua, Nabala Secondary School in Macuata, Rotuma High School in the island of Rotuma and Kalabu Secondary School in Suva were given approval to start Form 7," the ministry statement said.
Minister for Education Filipe Bole also took time out to wish all students sitting the external exam well.
The Fiji Form Seven Examination ends on Tuesday November 12.
Last year, the Ministry of Education recorded a pass rate of 75.8 per cent in the FSFE.
