DR DAVID Rohindra, a senior lecturer of the USP's Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment, has been awarded the 2013 vice chancellor's prize for excellence in teaching.
"You represent a rare combination of people who do research and you take teaching seriously," vice chancellor Professor Rajesh Chandra told Dr Rohindra at the award ceremony.
"Often people do well in research at the expense of teaching and some teach well at the expense of their research."
Dr Rohindra said in a USP statement that the award was a good motivation for USP staff to provide quality education.
"We can all contribute to quality teaching and quality education because that is what USP stands for," he said.
"We're competing with the world, so we need more innovative minds."
The vice chancellor's prize for excellence in teaching is awarded every year.
