A FORMER employee in the Office of the Prime Minister has appeared in the High Court for bribery-related charges.
Rudra Maharaj has denied the charges when he appeared before Justice Janaka Bandara who heard his application for a bail variation last week. His application has been granted.
It is alleged that Mr Maharaj, on September 24 last year, allegedly accepted $2000 cash and two cheques amounting to $10,000.
It is alleged the money was given by an Avin Prakash, who won a contract through Mr Maharaj's influence. The matter has been adjourned to January 23 next year.
