A SENIOR member of the chiefly household of the Vunivalu of Natewa has spoken out against claims by a man who earlier stated that they were the traditional installer of the title .
Private consultant and former senior USP lecturer Ropate Qalo said earlier comments made by a certain Josese Raya in this paper were absurd and baseless.
Mr Qalo said they were not aware of any Josese Raya in the chiefly household of Natewa.
"We know of a Josese Rea who is a masi to the Vunivalu of Natewa but there is no title as the masitabu who is the traditional kingmaker in Natewa as claimed earlier on," he said.
"Our history is well-known among our people and we know who we are.
"The late Vunivalu Amenatave Rabelo has already named his successor before his demise and we will stick to his decision.
"We do not want to reveal his name yet but he is in Natewa and working closely with the people of Natewa attending to the calls of the vanua of Natewa.
"As claimed by Mr Raya the title is not decided by the clan of Valenisau and Valelevu, it is decided by the members of Valelevu clan alone through consensus.
"The people of the chiefly household of Natewa will install their new warlord when the time is right."
