FORMER national rep Pita Rabo scored the winner as the Melbourne Masters beat the Ba Legends 1-0 to clinch the over 35 category of the International Masters Classic Football tournament title yesterday.
The New Zealand-based midfielder controlled a wonderful through pass to place the ball past diving goalkeeper Laisenia Tuba into the bottom left corner of the net just a minute before half-time.
The score could have been higher but former Fiji goalkeeper Tuba showed he still had the moves as he made crucial saves in the final at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
The over 40 grade was won by Ba Masters who beat Real Forex Sugar City Masters 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out.
The match ended at nil-all and the two teams were still locked at the same score-line after extra time to force the match into penalties.
Tournament controller Aminiasi Bigitibau hailed the event a success as the stars of yesteryears got a chance to play on an international standard turf.
"Most of the players never though they would ever get to play at the Stadium again but here they are and they all said they enjoyed every moment of it," he said.
