POLICE say they will monitor drunkards spilling out onto streets from pubs that operate in the daytime, and arrest those who disturb the peace.
This was their response after queries raised by this newspaper on drunkards harassing people in the Suva CBD after drinking in taverns and pubs with licences to operate during the day.
Commanding officer Central Division, SSP Tevita Waqabaca said that those found to be harassing people would be arrested.
"These places that have the licence to operate during the day are operating according to their licence which is from 11 in the morning to 12 midnight," SSP Waqabaca said.
"And after that time only the nightclubs are allowed to operate until five in the morning.
"But for the drunkards who are on the streets at that time we will intervene if they are found to be harassing people on the streets."
