THE Vanua Levu Open Golf Championship which is the biggest golf tournament in the North is expected to kick off tomorrow despite the wet weather conditions.
National golf delegate to the North Dinesh Goundar said that more than 70 golfers from around the country were expected to take part in the tourney.
Goundar said that the match would also be graced with the presence of his Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, Minister for Sports Viliame Naupoto and local stars such as Hamid Hussein, VK Singh and Rajesh Goundar.
"Labasa golfer Janendra Prasad will also be defending his title this year," he said.
"Prasad won the tourney last year in a 36-hole event and we are expecting more local stars at the tournament.
"There are a total of 43 golfers from the North that will be participating in the event including five from Savusavu."
