AFTER a successful 82nd Lautoka Open, the stage is set for the Club Championship qualifying rounds.
The Srixon-Cleveland-sponsored 18-hole event will be played at the Lautoka Golf Club tomorrow.
It will attract top golfers.
The top contender is five-time club champion James Krishna.
However out to dethrone him will be players such as Prem Chand, Surend Pillay, John Krishna, Anthony John and former Fiji and Lautoka football rep Vinod Chand.
The key man in the B-grade is defending champion Abdul Jalal and he will be up against 2010-2011 champion Gaffar Ali, Jeffery John, newcomer Lawrence Benjamin, Umen Reddy and captain Bill Gardiner.
In the C-grade, there will be a tussle between father and son Subash Chand and Shamal Ram with the seasoned Doctor Vimal Murthi, Mohammed Salim, Salesh Rao and Wiliki Takiveikata.
Meanwhile, trustee Raymond Singh had special praise for the National Golf Association of Fiji and its secretary treasurer Amitesh Chandra.
"The financial support and the sponsorship we got is of great help especially the rebuilding of the club house that was blown away by Cyclone Evans last December."
The club created history last week when for the first time in its 82 year Lautoka Open, a sports minister graced the occassion.
"That really was a proud moment for us," Singh said.
"Viliame Naupoto is the first minister to be chief guest at the Lautoka Open. He really enjoyed himself."
