PLANS are in the pipeline for the construction of a new international airport and seaport in the North soon.
Speaking at the Exporters Awareness Forum in Labasa, Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority regional manager North Orisi Vitukawalu said the ports would also bring the possibilities of direct exports from the North.
Mr Vitukawalu said government's Look North Policy was taking shape and gaining momentum considerably.
"Educational institutions like USP and FNU are diverting their resources and interests to the North educating people on exports and economic drivers," he said.
"In addition to this, Vanua Levu has been listed as one of the tax-free regions in the country.
"Government is trying its best to secure investors to the North in order to boost its economy."
