THERE has been a reduction in crime in the Suva market area.
This was confirmed by Suva Market Community Post community officer Corporal Akimo Gu on Tuesday.
He said since police started working with the wheelbarrow and shoeshine boys, they noticed a dramatic decrease in the crime rate in the area.
"They are our eyes and ears on the street," he said.
"They have helped us tremendously in curbing crime in the Suva market area.
"We have in turn tried to help them as well with their jobs."
A Vodafone ATH Foundation team visited the wheelbarrow operators to get an update on its projects.
