THE National Federation Party has taken a recess from political activities because of the forthcoming festival of lights, Diwali and the sugarcane harvesting.
NFP general secretary Vishwa Nadan said people were busy preparing for Diwali.
"It's a political recess for the party and we will be back in action full swing in mid-November when people are a bit free.
"We will wait for Diwali celebrations to be over," Mr Nadan said.
He said the party was also planning to hold its annual general meeting about the same time.
He added the party's executives had touched base with supporters in the Northern Division.
On when the party would call for expressions of interest from interested candidates, he responded: "We can't do that unless the Supervisor of Elections is appointed.
"We can't do much until the pre-requisites are in place. The most important thing is the appointment of Supervisor of Elections as that office will set things rolling."
Mr Nadan said party officials were moving around and touching base with supporters in other parts of the country.
