THE Fiji Archery Association is hosting its National Championship this weekend.
The event will serve as a qualifying round for the NZ National Championship in Auckland.
Fiji's top archers Robert Elder and Shanti Cook have been in fine form recently.
The duo have good chances of booking tickets to NZ.
Elder shot 1097 in the men's recurve Olympic 70metres round during the previous event while Cook shot 1231 in the women's Full Fita Round.
FAA secretary Ajay Ballu said the National Championship was an ideal opportunity for athletes to qualify for the NZ competition.
"The events starts on Saturday and ends on Sunday," he said.
"This is a qualifying round for the New Zealand National Championship and we have some athletes who are capable of making the trip.
He said Elder and Cook looked in top form during previous tournaments.
"He (Elder) has been shooting well and Shanti (Cook) is performing well for the ladies.
"Both shooters are just few points from qualifying and I am sure they can hit the qualifying marks this weekend."
Balluis shot 731 in the last event while Dipesh Kumar shot 891.
Registration starts at 8.30am, and competition proper starts at 9.30am.
