LABASA will host 600 nurses from around the country at the Fiji Nursing Association annual tournament next year.
Speaking at a thanksgiving event on Saturday night, Labasa FNA president Matelita Ravai revealed the news to nurses from the provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata.
Mrs Ravai said nurses in the three provinces agreed to host the tournament next year in Vanua Levu after they were approached by the national body.
"We are expecting more than 600 nurses to be participating in the tournament next year including FNA members from New Zealand," she said.
"Labasa had last hosted the tournament in 2004 and we gladly welcome the news that we will be hosting the games next year.
"This year the tournament was held in Ba and next year we promise our nurse friends around the country that the tournament will be bigger and better."
FNA CBM rep Maopa Nainima said the team from Labasa did well this year bagging the prize for the volleyball competition.
"The tournament is a sort of reunion from nurses around the country including our counterparts in NZ," she said.
"It is a way of bringing us together through fun and sports also reuniting friends. We look forward to assistance of other stakeholders in the North as we host the tournament next year."
