DEFENDING champions of the men and women's competition in the Kinoya Volleyball Association weekly competition successfully defended their titles yesterday.
Competing at the Savai courts, D-Brothers held on to the men's title after they beat Velau Boys 3-0 while the Velau Girls retained the women's title with a 3-1 victory over Youngstars.
Association treasurer Timoci Buasara said games started late so they finished the competition late.
"This is week three of our weekly competition and the two challenge title holders successfully retained their titles," he said.
"And the three-set victories by the two champions show how tough they are and the intensity of the game they play."
Buasara said the teams are interested in playing and they had no defaults in yesterday's competition.
"The players are eager to play and they are coming to all their games.
"The competition between the teams is very strong and they know they cannot afford to lose points by default."
He said they would take a break from the weekly competition to host a knockout tournament next weekend.
