STUDENTS of International School Suva took pride in their Fijian roots last Friday as they celebrated Fiji Day.
With the theme "Mai vude, Mai lagasere, Mai dredre" the students sang, danced, performed and even held a mini tribal fashion show all in light of Fiji celebrating 43 years of independence, officially marked on October 10.
Teachers, parents and fellow students watched as a number of students and teachers paraded fashionable tribal printed outfits and sang some iTaukei and Bollywood tracks on stage.
One of the students who was watching, Ernest Kristoffer, said he thought the performances and modelling were a great way to showcase Fiji.
"Our school has so many nationalities, about 45 different ones, and so to be able to showcase our own nationality as Fijians was really amazing," Mr Kristoffer said.
"Plus, to have students and teachers modelling some tribal clothes was nice to see because it's different."
