MATRIX Holdings Limited got in the Pinktober act last week, raising funds for the Western branch of the Fiji Cancer Society and their fight against breast cancer.
Matrix Holdings Limited, the parent company of The Bad Dog, O'Reilly's, Shenanigans and Victoria Wines in Suva, hosted a "pink drink and cupcakes night" at Shenanigans and was able to raise $5000 from ticket sales at the event.
"Altogether really, we collected just a little over $2000 and our managing director has been generous enough to top that up by matching dollar for dollar and bringing that to $5000 which we're very happy to hand over to the Fiji Cancer Society, Western branch," company promotions manager Tavai Bale said.
"We're pretty stoked that we've managed to raise this amount from just a one-night event and we couldn't have done that without the support of our partners and members of the community that turned up to contribute to the coffer."
Western branch of the Fiji Cancer Society president Margaret Rounds said they were thankful and appreciated the support shown by staff of Matrix Holdings Limited.
"The fight against cancer has many challenges and money is one of them," Mrs Rounds said.
"In order to continue our awareness and screening programs we need a lot of financial support and events like what Matrix organised, does a lot to help."
The company aims to host this event on an annual basis, in line with the Ministry of Health's initiatives to curb cancer in Fiji.
