TOURISTS from a visiting cruise liner were all smiles at the weekend when they dropped into Suva for shopping before sailing off again.
Docked at the Suva Wharf, the Oosterdam cruise liner, which carried hundreds of tourists, came into port early Saturday morning and left again hours later, giving tourists ample time to wander the streets of Suva as roadworks went on.
Auckland man Bob Woodward was delighted to be in the country with his wife and two daughters. "Fiji is beautiful. We've always wanted to come here, so to finally be here is a great feeling," Mr Woodward said.
"Suva has a lot of tall buildings and beautiful sights and my wife particularly likes the vegetable and handicraft markets across from the dock."
Market vendor Miriama Taukei said the ships were always a good way to meet new people and make that extra dollar.
"It's good when they come because they're very friendly and they also buy a lot of my fresh, cold fruits," Mrs Taukei said.
