ORGANISERS of the Coral Coast 7s tournament have confirmed 12 overseas teams will grace this year's event next month.
Tournament director Nick Jordon says the tournament, which has stamped its mark locally has unearthed star players such as Joji Ragamate, Peni Gaunimeke and Jasa Veremalua, has attracted some of the best sevens teams from Australia, New Zealand and the US.
Already, sevens legends such as Ben Gollings, Waisale Serevi and other top local players have featured at the tournament. "Right now, 12 overseas teams have been confirmed, that's six men's and six women's teams," Jordon said.
"We have champion teams from Australia, New Zealand and USA plus some top local clubs competing."
Australia's top sevens club Sunnybank is yet to be confirmed.
Jordon said a win for Sunnybank at next week's Central Coast 7s tournament would book a ticket to Lawaqa Park, the venue of the Coral Coast event.
"Sunnybank is one of the teams we are looking at but they have not yet confirmed because they have to win the Central Coast tournament to come here. They will have to overcome tough opponents like Westfield, Wardens and some other Fijian clubs first."
Jordon said the Sunnybank women's team had confirmed its participation.
The three-day tournament kicks off on November 14.
