BORN and bred in the highlands of Navosa and Nagado, a group of village boys are geared up for the biggest moment of their rugby careers.
The young boys, who are members of the Yamacia 7s team, have been invited to test their strength against some of the top 7s teams at the Central Coast 7s in Australia next week.
The side will be joined by Fiji 7s giant and defending champion Westfield Tokatoka, Red Rock and the unpredictable Nabua team.
Coach Simione Kuruvoli said the side was laced with unknown village boys who were committed and were hoping to make it to the big time in rugby.
He said the boys had been training for the past month and were confident of giving other teams a good run for their money.
"All these players are village boys from Navosa and Nagado and our aim is to expose them to top level competition," said Kuruvoli.
"We have been exposed to some local competition and this tournament will be an eye-opener to the boys. The players are looking forward to the trip and they know what is expected of them."
The side is pooled with Mana Pasifica a club from Samoa and two clubs from Australia's Southern Districts and Iconz Rugby.
Kuruvoli said the side had what it took to take on the best at the tournament.
Kuruvoli also thanked sponsors Sigatoka River Safari, Great Melanesian Hotel, Tale Investments and Tourism Fiji who have been key to the development of the players' talents.
The side will leave the country next week.
