SOME people in Sydney and Auckland have shown interest in establishing Fiji Labour Party branches there.
An FLP supporter in Sydney posted on social networking site Facebook that they had sent their request to the party.
FLP leader Mahendra Chaudhry yesterday confirmed receiving the request from Sydney.
"Yes, I have received a request from people in Sydney and as well as from Auckland," Mr Chaudhry said.
"I will refer it to the party's national council for approval. It is empowered to give approval for opening of branches or for the closing."
Mr Chaudhry said there were Fijian voters in the two cities.
He said they would have been registered to vote in the 2014 election.
"The former residents of Fiji who are strong supporters of the FLP want to maintain the party's support and open branches in Sydney and Auckland."
