SUVA lawyer Cecille Sanchez as been appointed as Fiji Airways' general counsel replacing Jay Shree Raniga, who has moved on to pursue further studies in the US.
Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Stefan Pichler said the appointment was made after an exhaustive search process as the position was a critical senior role in the airline business.
"We are delighted to appoint Cecille to head up our legal and government affairs team as general counsel," he said.
"This is a critical senior role within the airline, one which covers the length and breadth of our global operations.
"I'm especially pleased that we filled the position with an extremely capable Fijian."
Mr Pichler said one of the four pillars of the company's five-year strategy was to ensure Fiji Airways provided adequate job and career opportunities for Fijians.
"We are a Fijian airline so it makes sense and at this point, I would also like to thank our outgoing general counsel Jay Shree for her service to the company and wish her well."

She officially starts at Fiji Airways on October 28.
