SEMESA Naiseruvati is the favourite to win the prestigious Raj Charan National Bowls Championship at the Suva Bowling Club this weekend.
Naiseruvati won his fourth Masters Singles Championship in Lautoka in July beating Som Padayachi in the final.
Dan Lum On, Samuela Tui and Arun Kumar are other strong title contenders.
Fiji Bowling Association secretary Abdul Kalim said the highest prizemoney for the singles event would be on offer in this weekend's tournament.
He said the winner would be handed the title of national champion.
"This is the most popular event of the year making it the pinnacle tournament for local bowlers," Kalim said.
"The late Raj Narayan Charan was instrumental in taking top class players such as Caucau Turagabeci, Ratish Lal, Babu Khan under his wing and helping them gain international recognition and world rankings."
More than 40 players are expected to participate in the two-day event. Registrations close today.
