THE Flying Fijians squad members had a rather unusual experience at the team's i tatau presentation for the Northern tour to Minister for Youth and Sports Viliame Naupoto on Wednesday night.
The ceremony at Nadave in Tailevu was probably history after it was conducted under kerosene lamps and headlights following the power failure.
But that didn't deter Naupoto who gave a powerful message to the locally-based players eyed for the tour.
The national side will play Portugal on November 9, Italy on November 16, Romania on November 23 and the Barbarians on November 30 during the tour.
"There will be many expectations from the nation, your families, your fans, your coach and your teammates. But it is your expectation that matters, because you can turn it into reality," Naupoto said.
"To be a champion, you need to value teamwork, be disciplined, never give up, learn from your mistakes value your teammates' contributions and be honest."
The Flying Fijians team for the annual tour will be named tomorrow night during the half time break of the final challenge for the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy between Tailevu and Nadroga.
