AIMED at raising awareness of child health issues, a race dubbed the Race for Survival will be held next Wednesday.
The Save the Children Fiji-co-ordinated event is the biggest child race in the world and will feature six different primary schools from Suva.
According to SC Fiji official David Whippy, the event is aimed at putting an end to preventable child deaths for children under five years.
"This race is something that we're using to highlight nutrition, especially malnutrition in children of Fiji," Mr Whippy said yesterday.
The international theme for this year's race is "Every Child has the Right to Health and Survival but Every Four Seconds, a Child Dies from Preventable Causes".
Fiji will follow the theme but focus mainly around the issue of malnutrition, marking the national theme Grow Healthy Food, Nurture Healthy Children.
The event is expected to take place on October 23 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
There will also be a celebrity team which will feature reigning Miss Hibiscus Priscilla Reddy.
