STUDENTS and teachers of Dudley Intermediate School in Toorak, Suva had to be evacuated from the main school building yesterday morning during a fire in the girl's toilet.
Firefighters were at the scene minutes after the NFA station at Walu Bay received an emergency call at 10.30am.
Authority CEO John O'Connor was also at the scene with his men and said they were able to contain the fire.
He said while they awaited the outcome of their investigation, they suspected the fire started from the storeroom located under the stairs to the toilet, which was in the same building.
"We have been able to contain the fire and there is hardly any damage and no one was injured," Mr O'Connor said.
"But we will conduct our investigations to determine the cause."
Mr O'Connor commended the school on the successful execution of its evacuation exercise.
