DESPITE the recent spate of bad weather experienced in Suva, the Fiji Roads Authority has confirmed that roadworks will continue.
"Roadworks are progressing well," authority CEO Neil Cook said yesterday.
"Contractors make allowance for weather in programming works and adjust accordingly.
"Fiji's climate is one of the challenges FRA faces as we address the backlog of maintenance work required."
These comments were made in light of calls from daily road-users this week who were concerned that the recent weather changes would halt roadwork in the Capital City.
Mr Cook said this process was important because it strived to push Fiji towards establishing better road standards.
"It is just something to be recognised and worked through on our long-term journey towards a world standard roading network for Fiji."
