THE Northern Development Program has supported a total of 1659 small to medium businesses in the North.
NDP rural enterprise officer Asenaca Niumataiwalu told government officials at the World Poverty Eradication Day celebrations in Natewa on Wednesday, the NDP spent $5.15million in grants on these projects.
Mrs Niumataiwalu said they created 5904 jobs since their establishment in 2008.
"We have supported a total of 799 business projects from Macuata, 516 projects from Cakaudrove and 344 in Bua," she said.
"We support small-medium business initiatives like dalo and yaqona farming, fishing, soap manufacturing, and other small projects."
