FORMER campaign director of the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua party Jale Baba has been acquitted of an attempted larceny charge.
Mr Baba appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili on Tuesday morning.
Mr Baba managed a smile as he walked out of the courtroom after being told by Mr Ratuvili he was acquitted.
"This is such a relief so that we can get on with our life," he said.
"There is so much to do, and I just can't have this thing hanging over my head. But I am so relieved this has happened."
It was alleged that on March 13, 2000, Mr Baba attempted to sell a government vehicle to a Naitasiri farmer.
The vehicle, a Mitsubishi L200 single cab, registered under the Fiji Pine Limited was on tender.
Mr Baba and co accused Kaie Nawasa, now deceased, were accused of trying to deprive Lemeki Natorogia of his monies when they were not the rightful proprietors of the vehicle.
