THE European Union has confirmed that it will provide a further $5million to aid Fiji's electoral process in the lead up to 2014.
EU deputy director general of EuropeAid Marcus Cornaro said they were happy to provide funds to prepare Fiji for elections.
"Overall yes, I am happy to say that we are providing further support of about $F5m for the electoral process," Mr Cornaro said.
"We are preparing for the electoral process.
"It will be split broadly, there will be one that will be used to address the electoral process as such the setting up of the procedures, the structures, training which will go with that."
He also revealed they were signing an agreement with an international organisation to assist in the technical work.
"We intend to sign a contract with an organisation called the IMG, this would be for half the amount of money that will be used by them for the technical work.
"The other half of the funds will be given to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to provide technical support advice for the setting up of a parliament."
