A YOUTH group in Labasa is attending a four-day farm management training to help them turn farming into an income-generating activity and help eradicate poverty.
Also the youths of Bainisucu area decided to take up the training to boost their farming skills.
Youth Viliame Taufa said the training would be an eye-opener because it would help him identify ways of commercialising his farm for income.
The Agriculture Ministry-initiated training is aimed at educating youths on how best they can develop their farming skills.
Ministry director corporate services Colonel Jonisio Mara said such initiatives were for farmers nationwide.
"Most farmers have the perception of just farming and not thinking beyond what they can achieve from it," he said.
"This training is in line with government's objectives of eradicating poverty, reducing the import bill."
