THE Digicel Fiji national sevens side were handed about $15,000 by major sponsors Digicel Fiji as bonus for their efforts at the Gold Coast Sevens last week.
The mobile giants presented the handsome bonus payment of $15,260.95 to the team who won the Plate title at the two-day tournament.
Digicel Fiji public relations and sponsorship manager Satish Narayan congratulated the team on their performance.
"Despite not being able to defend the Gold Coast title, the Digicel Fiji 7s team showed tremendous improvement in taking out the Plate title," he said.
He also acknowledged the wonderful work done by new coach Ben Ryan and the team management in preparing the team well.
"Over the years, the FRU has helped many players fulfil their dream of donning the national jersey and a good example is Waisea Nacuqu who had an outstanding debut on the Gold Coast."
Sevens skipper Osea Kolinisau thanked their sponsors for their support throughout the tournament.
"We thank our major sponsors Digicel Fiji for their wonderful support for the team and we are always grateful to their sponsorship," he said.
"Like Ben Ryan has said, we can only improve from here and I think that it is a big boost for the boys to receive this kind of incentive and support."
