NADI soccer president Navneeda Goundar has stepped down following his team's defeat in the final of the Inter-District Championship in Lautoka over the weekend.
Nadi went down 1-2 to Ba in the final of the Courts-sponsored tournament at Churchill Park, a game which Goundar said was both displeasing in its result as well as the officials handling of it. Yesterday Goundar said he was busy with the handover process.
"I don't want to leave anything unattended. I am just handing over things to Nadi Football," he said.
Goundar was president of Nadi Football Association from 1994 till 2004 and was re-elected to the post in January this year, and there's still no word on his successor.
Meanwhile, IDC semi-finalists Nadi, Ba, Suva and Labasa will represent Fiji at the upcoming Pacific Cup in New Zealand.
Earlier this year, it was reported the semi-finalists of the IDC would be given the green light to compete in the tournament. Nadi won the Pacific Cup last year.
