A NEW-look website and Facebook page was launched yesterday afternoon by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation. Minister Dr Jiko Luveni said it was important to capitalise on such important information mediums. She said communication changed undesirable behaviour to one of empowerment to bring out changes in communities.
World Food Day
THE country marks World Food Day today along with the rest of the world, with the focus mainly being on sustainable food systems for food security and nutrition. Save the Children Fiji health manager Ashweeni Lata says it's important because it highlights the problems and solutions associated with ending global hunger.
Nicole as CEO
SAVE the Children Fiji yesterday welcomed its new CEO Raijeli Nicole. Mrs Nicole will spend the next three years working towards what she describes as "walking the talk". She said she wanted to rebrand the organisation and make it a place where difficult issues could be thrashed out.
SUVA will host the first ever UN-Nippon Foundation Pacific Island states alumni meeting organised by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat. It will highlight the importance of ocean governance in the region, said PIFS in a statement. PIFS secretary general Tuiloma Neroni Slade said it was an opportune time for Pacific Islands to utilise regional expertise.
