THE victorious Ba football side will share $25,000.
The Men in Black won $15,000 after beating Nadi 2-1 in extra-time yesterday to win the Lloyd Farebrother Trophy at the Courts Inter-District Championship at Churchill Park.
The Ba Fan Club topped up that prize purse with $10,000.
Abbu Zaid was on top of his game. The nippy player scored the winner in the 1-0 win over Suva in the semi-final and netted the decisive goal in the super premier final.
He struck in the seventh minute of the second spell of extra time.
"I'd love to thank God for the win. This victory is for my mum who is waiting for me at home and all the Ba fans," an elated Zaid said afterwards.
Ba president Rishi Kumar was equally delighted and kept it simple saying they believed in "love and unity".
The last time the two teams met was in 2007 when Ba won by the same scoreline. The match ended up in extra time as well.
In that final, Viliame Toma had scored first for Nadi before Avinesh Waran Swamy and Malakai Tiwa won it for the Men in Black.
Yesterday, Toma again opened the scoring, Waran drew the teams level before Zaid side-footed home the winner.
Nadi president Navneenda Goundar claimed that Zaid's winner was scored from an off-side position.
"We were robbed," he said.
"Their goal was off-side and our goal that was disallowed was a clear goal."
Toma struck first in the 15th minute. Ame Votoniu set up a counter-attack and Napolioni Qasevakatini found Rusiate Matarerega who laid on a well-weighted pass to Toma. Toma breezed past Remueru Takiate to smash home past Jone Ralulu.
Then early in the second half Zaid's goal-bound attempt hit Munit Krishna's hand and a penalty was given. Waram placed it past Beniamino Matainaqara to make it 1-1.
Zaid started off the move that led to his winning goal. Nadi had earlier won 1-0 over Labasa with a late Uraia Loki goal in the semi-final.
In the premier final, Taveuni won its first ever IDC crown with a 1-0 win over Dreketi in the final.
